Canadian Federation Of Independant Business has just launched a PEI debt site @ http://www.cfib.ca/legis/pei/default.asp
That debt is approaching $1.4 billion or about $10,000 per pserson (counting everyone on the island even newborns). PEI is the only province currently running a deficit.
Provincial Treasurer Wes Sheridan is aiming to get rid of the deficit in two years.
Now I'm not inherintly against a government going in debt if it is improving infastructure or investing it in something that will give a return...but from what I see that ain't happening. Lets hpe the feds bail our asses out! ha. But seriously lets tone it down a notch on the debt there PEI. The debt is building up and the roads are below developing nations standards (little biased here!).
